So you want to commission me or buy a piece from me? Here are some things I want you to know. If you just skip through
and don't read, I'm not responsible for misunderstandings!
All items in the Clay Doodles section are made from polymer clay, baked in a conventional oven,
hand-painted, and glazed. They're fairly sturdy - however, because they are just sculptures and may
break with mis-handling,
and because some are rather small, they are NOT recommended for children. They may pose a
choking hazard.
I can only take a few commissions at a time. Once the current commissions are completed,
I will re-open the slots (I announce on the front page when I am taking new commissions). I do not e-mail people when the slots are open, so make sure you check back often!
I reserve the right to put up pictures of any pieces I finish for you. I also reserve the
right to not put up pictures of any pieces that I finish for you if I so choose.
The shipping costs I quote to you do not include shipping insurance; they cover the shipping,
boxes, tissue paper, bubble wrap, and anything else I need to get your item to you as safely
as possible. That means that
if your item gets damaged in the mail, I am not to be held responsible. If you prefer, you can
pay extra for insurance. I mail all items via USPS (United States Postal Service) as that is
the courier I've had the best luck with. To date, I've mailed out close to 300 Clay Doodles and have only had a handful of
mail-related mishaps. It's up to you to
decide whether you want to insure your piece. Read more about shipping insurance
here.
For US orders, I prefer Paypal payments, but will take money orders and checks in a pinch. For non-US
orders, due to length of process time, I can only take Paypal at this time. Please
be aware that you get nothing until your check clears/money order appears! Never send regular cash
in the mail - it may be lost and I'm not responsible for that.
Do not send me money until I tell you I can take your commission!
I will probably ask that you pay at least half up front. If upon completion and finalized
photos, the piece is not to your liking, I will refund your money.
I will not refund your
money once the piece has gone through the mail,
so be sure to tell me if you want better pictures of your piece from a specific angle! It's no bother
for me to do at all so feel free to ask.
If you do not want your clay doodle once I've completed it, once I refund your money, I reserve
the right to sell it to someone else. Even if it's "your special character" or something along those lines.
I do take pictures of custom pieces at different stages (pre-baking, post-painting)
so feel free to tell me if you see something you need changed. Once a piece is baked, it cannot
be undone - I'll need to start over, which ends up being a waste of time and materials for me.
So this is very important - if you see something you don't like, let me know before I bake!
I will try to get all pieces done in a timely manner (once I tell you I've started, most
chibis can be finished that day, though that is not applicable in all circumstances).
However, sometimes, things happen. I may need to go out of town, or I may get ill, or my hands
will hurt, or sometimes I'll get a creative block. If you haven't heard from me in a little
while, just go ahead and poke me and I'll let you know what's up! I'll try to keep you updated, though.
Most chibi items already pictured on my page are around $15. Some are $20 if they're a bit more
complicated (like chibi Death).
When you commission me for an item I have not tried before, expect a price of around $20-$25, as it takes a lot of time for
me to figure out what design looks best. If a sculpture is made up of two figures (like Jaybee Hugging Spekko),
please anticipate a base price of at least $30 as you are paying for the work of creating two figures. Larger sculptures as pictured at the bottom of the main page
start at around $40; most will be more.
It's a lot of rules to follow, I know. If you're still interested, or just
have some questions, E-mail me!
Current commission rules updated November 17th, 2006.
